Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA)


Core Requirements

The following core requirements must be met prior to starting either the DeKalb or Rockford Business Administration (BSBA) program.

  • Have completed at least 60 hours (Junior standing);
  • Have a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA (NIU + Transfer);
  • Have completed the following TEN prerequisite courses with a C or better;
    • ACCY 206, Introductory Financial accounting
    • ACCY 207, Introductory Cost Management
    • MGMT 217, Legal Environment of Business
    • OMIS 259 , Introduction to Business Information Systems
    • UBUS 223, Introduction to Business Statistics
    • ECON 260, Principles of Microeconomics
    • ECON 261, Principles of Macroeconomics
    • ENGL 104, Rhetoric and Composition II (or ENGL 105)
    • MATH 211, Calculus for Business and Social Sciences or MATH 229, Calculus I
    • PSYC 102, Introduction to Psychology

The College of Business suggests all NIU business students follow a similar schedule for the first two years at NIU. Guidance in selecting these courses for lower division business majors is provided by the Undergraduate Studies Academic Advising and Student Services Office and it is strongly advised that students meet with their advisor each semester to review their schedule.
