Northern Illinois University is the only university in the Chicago area to offer an interactive marketing concentration within the marketing degree program. This area of study provides students with current, up-to-date interactive marketing course topics and real world, hands-on class projects to prepare them for careers in interactive marketing.
Interactive Marketing (IM) is often facilitated by technology, allowing the ability to address individual customers personal level by gathering and remembering their unique responses. Interactive marketing is a conversation, not a one-time transaction. With the IM curriculum students learn interactive marketing principles such as:
- search engine marketing (SEO & pay-per-click),
- Google Analytics
- social media monitoring and strategy,
- website usability and analytics,
- email marketing,
- database marketing, data mining and analytics, and
- integrated marketing communication (IMC) strategy.

Our program gets its support from a number of advisory board member companies who support us financially as well as help us make decisions about curriculum and outreach. In addition, the program has a partnership arrangement with the Online Marketing Institute.
