The College of Business has experienced remarkable transformations since its inception in the 1950s. The last several years have been filled with many exciting developments as we continue to implement the college's strategic plan.
Perhaps the most exciting recent event is the donation of funds for a new College of Business facility, complete with state-of-the-art environs and advanced technologies. This investment, made by alumnus Dennis Barsema and his wife Stacey, enhances the college's outstanding programs. Indeed, as the “new face of Northern's College of Business, Barsema Hall plays a key role in positioning all aspects of the college on the larger, national stage. In 2004, Northern's business faculty and students garnered worldwide media attention through coverage of NIU's Finance professors' research findings about Presidential Elections, as well as coverage of the college's Marketing Apprentice course, which was co-created by professors, students, and alumni.
