The NIU College of Business has 5 academic departments which offer 6 undergraduate programs and 4 graduate programs. The college also provides opportunities for students to learn directly from business executives and business faculty by participating in programs like the nationally-regarded Experiential Learning Center (ELC). The ELC connects faculty-guided teams of NIU students with organizations to tackle existing business issues in an actual firm. To date, more than 483 NIU students have participated in the ELC. They have analyzed more than 83 projects -- ranging from software evaluation to emerging market analysis, among many others -- for 45 sponsoring organizations. In fact, the work of last year's ELC student team that analyzed the McDonald's Environmental Footprint project was honored as being one of the most innovative academic experiences at the university overall.
