Students who have not yet secured academic internships for Spring 2009 who would like to do so are encouraged to take the following steps:
Ascertain with Rhonda Rosborough that he/she is academically eligible for a Spring 2009 academic internship.
Update his/her resume on Victor eRecruiting to reflect current grade point average, work experience and community service.
Continue to check for new Academic Internship job postings on Victor eRecruiting at least weekly. Firms that contact us with internship needs are directed to post these needs on Victor eRecruiting. Generally, a student will apply directly for the job using Victor; there is no “resume book" and there is no “mass interview week" until Fall 2008. Arrangements for interviews and office visits are made directly between applicants and firms.
If necessary, ascertain that a posted job is indeed eligible for academic credit. The "edits" in Victor do not necessarily prevent a house painting company, for example, from labeling a job as an Academic Accounting Internship. If a student has any concern about the eligibility of a position as an academic internship, he/she should contact Tamara Phelan at tphelan@niu.edu.
