Greetings! We here at the LPDC are looking forward to another great semester!
Some fabulous new students have joined the LMAS program, and it was fun watching all the creative juices flow at the Q Center on Friday. Here’s our favorite definition of “teamwork”: “Teamwork as shown by sports like golf and soccer involves arbitrating revolving door difficulties with grace and a balanced breakfast!” Great job, everyone!
A few announcements:
- The LPDC will be open Monday-Thursday, 8am-4:30pm.
- Consultations will be available Monday-Thursday, 11am-3pm.
- As always, you are welcome to use the center for quiet study time during regular hours, provided there is no event scheduled.
- NOTE: The center will be closed on Monday, January 27, for the AACSB visit.
In addition to the services we already offer, Barry Shaw will be available for professional development consultations Tuesdays, 2-3pm, or upon request. We hope you will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.
We are also happy to announce that Clare Foland will be joining our team. Clare is a Ph.D. candidate in English with several years experience teaching literature and composition here at NIU as well as several community colleges in the area. Clare has also been a consultant at NIU’s Writing Center and was the Editor in Chief of multiple editions of the composition textbook Y1 Writes. Clare will be available for consulting appointments Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11am-3pm.
Well, that’s it for now. I will be continuing the blog series on my pals, Strunk & White, so check-in again soon!
