Our Directors

Jeffrey Carroll served as senior consultant at SSP-BPI Group for over 7 years specializing in Talent Management, Leadership Development, and Executive Coaching.  Mr. Carroll was a senior HR leader with GTE (Verizon) and Unilever, where he coordinated talent development strategies for high-potential individuals.  In addition, he was the vice president of HR for two middle-market services firms.  At present, he serves on the Department of Management’s business advisory board at Northern Illinois University and speaks to various organizations on career resiliency.  Mr. Carroll holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Illinois State University.

 

 

 

 

Jennifer Butler Ellis specializes in organizational and interpersonal communication. She holds a doctorate degree in communication from Michigan State University.  Over the last 15 years, Dr. Ellis has taught courses in public speaking, business communication skills, leadership, organizational communication, small group communication, and interpersonal communication.  For nearly eight years, Dr. Ellis directed the Ernst & Young Accounting Business Communication Center at Michigan State University and worked tirelessly to build a program that focused on helping students improve their oral and written communication skills.  She looks forward to bringing that same energy to NIU’s LMAS program.

 

 

 

 


Our Consultants

 

Angela Grimaldi is passionate about helping students become better communicators. She has a master’s degree in English from Northern Illinois University with a concentration in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and she has taught courses in composition, literature, and grammar.  Angela also serves as an undergraduate academic advisor in the Department of Accountancy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Gerald Root is excited to help students with  their written and oral communication skills and  to help them become better speakers and  writers.  He has a bachelor’s degree with a  double major in English and sociology from Northern Illinois University and is currently  working on a master’s degree in linguistics.
