Q Center Launch: Jerry’s Recap

Welcome to our new LMAS students! Jen, Jeff, Jerry, and I hope that you all had a wonderful time at the Q Center launch yesterday. Here’s a brief recap from Jerry along with some action shots of your team challenges. You can also check back next week for some follow-up thoughts from Jen.

I had a great time meeting you all at the LMAS launch yesterday at the Q Center. The Q Center staff did a wonderful job of getting the energy up early and keeping it high all day. This made interaction with all of you even more enjoyable. Getting to know some of you during the activities was a fun experience for me throughout the day. The drag racer building activity was particularly enjoyable, and seeing you compete through the planks puzzle was very entertaining.

The hours for the E&Y LPDC for the summer are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10am-4pm, so come in and see me!

Bizspeak in Action: Barney Stinson

Earlier this month, John posted some great information on bizspeak from Bryan A. Garner’s new book, in which he identifies the root problem with bizspeak:

“Many of these phrases have become voguish in business — abstain if you can. Sometimes people use them to enhance their own sense of belonging or to sound ‘in the know‘ … Bizspeak may seem like a convenient shorthand, but it suggests to readers that you’re on autopilot, thoughtlessly using boilerplate phrases that they’ve heard over and over.”
