2012 Honorary Alumnus

Joe Hula recently retired from Follett Corporation as Executive Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. He was responsible for creating, fostering and maintaining an enterprise-wide technology vision and strategy that supports their corporate and business unit strategies.

Mr. Hula joined Follett in 1999 as Senior Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer for Follett Higher Education Group. In 2003, he was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Follett Corporation. He served in this capacity until his retirement in 2011.

Mr. Hula has nearly 40 years of senior level business experience in information technology management. Prior to joining Follett Higher Education Group, he served as Chief Technology Officer for Service Master. Previously, he had served as Vice President, Chief Information Officer for Service Master's Management Services business unit.

Mr. Hula serves as a member of the NIU Department of Operations Management and Information Systems Advisory Board, and the Advisory Board for the Experiential Learning Center within the College of Business at Northern Illinois University.

Mr. Hula earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from St. Joseph's College in Rensselear, Indiana. He earned his MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
