Distinguished Donor Spotlight ~ Jeff Bartelt
Jeff Bartelt is feeling good. The 1985 NIU marketing alumus is president and owner of MidwestHR, a Professional Employer Organization, father of three, and married for 26 years to his NIU college sweetheart. As a Dean's Circle Member, Jeff says, "Life is good, and it feels good to be able to give back. In previous years, I came to campus to speak in sales classes, but now I am able to contribute financially as well. NIU provided me with the foundation for my career and brought me many opportunities right out of college."
The self-described "active business student" served as president of the American Marketing Association (AMA) while attending NIU, where he increased membership by 400 students during his presidency. He was also a board member of the Marketing Student Advisory Board (MSAB). "I met many good people while a student," shares Jeff. "Being active provided me with the opportunities to meet business leaders recruiting for their companies. I had my choice of employment after graduation."
Jeff went to work for Automatic Data Processing (ADP), where he thrived in sales and management for the next 10 years, providing him with various experiences within the company. In 1995, Jeff stepped into the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) space and worked for Employee Solutions as their Regional Vice President of Sales. After five years, he joined MidwestHR where he is now President and CEO. Jeff is the recipient of the National Register's Who's Who in Executives & Professionals. He is also founder and CEO of the Chicagoland Business Leaders Forum, an outlet for collaboration, networking, and learning among C-level executives.
"While I was at NIU, I was fortunate to be able to connect with some of my professors," shares Jeff, who fondly remembers Dr. Albert Smart who took him under his wing and helped mentor him and get him started in business. Jeff also recalls Dr. Richard Howland, who he says was influential in his sales career.
A Huskie football fan, Jeff attended the Go Daddy Bowl and the Orange Bowl. And with his son, now a junior at NIU who has been active at the Northern Star and in the marching band, it's even more fun to be a Huskie! Jeff has two other children and resides in Naperville with his wife Adelynn.
