The Department of Management

Management programs offer high quality and innovative programs that prepare students to succeed in today’s business world. Innovative and hands-on classes, award-winning faculty with real world professional experienced, combined with flexibility to meet student interests, and strong relationships with employers means that our graduates leave NIU with a great professional future.

Four exciting areas to study

Successful businesses depend on leaders who can innovate, motivate others, and manage effectively in a challenging business environment. In the Management and Business Administration majors, students can focus on their career interests, whether that be leading people or projects, human resource management, or entrepreneurship and social responsibility or all aspects of business.

Strong Alumni Support

We maintain excellent relationships with our alumni and many Chicagoland businesses. Over 800 alumni serve as coaches and mentors for our students. More than 100 business professionals come to campus each semester to provide their expertise in classes and student organizations. Every Management and Business Administration student graduates from NIU with a professional network!

So Much More Than Classes

The department partners with NIU alumni and business partners to provide internships, scholarships, and consulting experiences for students. Our Management Executive Advisory Council, comprised of more than a dozen business professionals, provides the insights, experience, and contacts to maintain a dynamic and innovative programs that prepare students for professional success.

Student Career Success

Preparation and support for career success starts early on in the student’s academic career – from day one. Career workshops and seminars, career and internship fairs, internships, professional mentoring, networking with employers and business partners, and a major-specific career planning course are just some of the ways that our students are prepared to launch and succeed in their careers.
