Tamara Phelan joined the NIU faculty in 2002. She instructs Managerial Accounting, Accounting Information Systems and Financial Accounting. Prior to coming to NIU, she was a partner in the Management Consulting Practice at Ernst & Young. During her 11 years there, her responsibilities included new account development, sales, service delivery and staff development. Her teaching experience includes training both E&Y staffers and client teams regarding Cost Management, Activity-Based Costing, Performance Measurement, Data Warehousing Principles and Accounting Information Systems. Her professional experience also incorporates roles as Cost Analyst, Payroll Manager, and Compensation Manager. Tamara is certified in Production and Inventory management (CPIM) by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APIC). She has a B.S. in Business Administration from Valparaiso University and a Master's in Management (MM) from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
