The BELIEF Initiative stands for Building Ethical Leaders using an Integrated Ethics Framework. It is a systematic approach to integrating ethics into the college curriculum and was officially launched during the Fall 2006. The development of the Initiative began in the Spring 2004 with the formation of an Ethics Task Force (ETF) composed of a cross-functional team of College of Business (COB) faculty and staff. The BELIEF Initiative provides a common foundation to all College of Business majors in the UBUS 310 - Business Core: Lecture course. This foundation is based on the COB's Ethics Handbook: Building Ethical Leaders and a decision-making framework. In addition, the handbook and decision-making framework is integrated into subsequent classes in all disciplines throughout the college.
The learning objectives of this Initiative are to help students: 1) identify ethical issues and 2) apply a decision-making framework.
