Career Insights

The opportunity for business students to learn from real life applications and practical experiences of senior executives has been enhanced through the creation of the Executive Connections Career Insights. A growing number of NIU Executive Club members have offered their time and resources to speak with students in the classroom, during professional organization meetings, and at seminars.

In addition, many of these individuals as well as certain College of Business faculty are available to speak in public forums and at outside conferences.

Engagement Process

The following process has been established to facilitate coordination of classes and organizational meetings to take advantage of the alumni's time and talents in the most effective manner.

  • Faculty members will initiate contact with a speaker to arrange date, time, place, topic, and other appropriate details.
  • Speakers are asked to try to secure a person who could serve as a backup in case they are called out for an emergency.
  • Speakers will be provided with a map, parking pass, and follow-up performance evaluations.
  • Speakers will be asked to complete an evaluation about Career Insights process and speaking experience.
  • Evaluations will be used to assess the value of the Career Insights and adjust the process as necessary to make this a valuable experience for alumni, students, and faculty.
