The 9th Annual NIU Executive Club Gala Gala once again exceeded expectations. A great cause of raising money for student scholarships offered a splendid evening of fine dining, dancing, networking, and camaraderie among everyone attending the event. Alvin Smith, the 2004 recipient of the Executive Club Scholarship, spoke about how the scholarship program impacted his life. In addition to the financial assistance, the Club has provided internship experiences, mentors, and a resource of business executives to tap into for career guidance and business networking opportunities.
Erik Calmeyer, the 2007 scholarship recipient was introduced and also addressed the attendees. Erik was selected as the 2007 NIU Executive Club Scholarship recipient based on his outstanding academic, extracurricular, and service record; as well as his potential to become a successful business leader. Erik explained that he was able to attend NIU instead of a junior college because of this scholarship. He expressed his appreciation for the scholarship assistance provided.
Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of the first Bob Adducci and David Wilson Founders Award. Following a humorous and insightful presentation by Bob and David of the “top ten reasons” Joe Locke should be the first recipient, Joe Locke graciously accepted the award.
