Description of the Class

This seminar class will examine information systems development from a practical perspective. 

 

Following a broad framework of information systems development, the class will examine various factors that influence the development process and the success and failure of information systems.  Topics will include Open Source Software, the Rational Unified Process, and eXtreme Programming.  Students will conduct research projects on related areas of interest.

The textbook for the course will be:

Information Systems Development: Methods in Action by Fitzgerald, Russo & Stolterman, McGraw-Hill, 2002.

The text will be supplemented with other readings.  All students must have web and e-mail access.

 

Graded activities will include class participation, a case analysis, a research proposal, an article presentation, and a research paper.
