WHAT IS FMA?

FMA International is a professional organization of financial executives, analysts, professors, and students who live and work around the world. We are currently the largest finance organization devoted to bridging the gap between finance theory and practice.

Who Can Join?

All majors in good academic standing can join FMA.

What Can FMA Do For Me?

At NIU, FMA meets on Thursday nights at 7:00pm. Members are treated to a speaker—speakers include finance professionals, business entrepreneurs, and finance professors.

Your membership in FMA establishes you as a part of an important network of professionals in finance and expands your résumé by providing proof of your interest in your discipline.

What about Dues?

Semester dues for the local NIU Chapter are $25. Please turn in your dues with the Chapter Application to an FMA Board Member or to the Department of Finance, BH 236.

What’s My Commitment?

Like most clubs and organizations, participation is necessary from our members. To measure members' participation, points are awarded for taking part in FMA's activities. When a certain level of points is attained, our active members are recognized.

ABOUT FMA INTERNATIONAL

What are the Benefits of Joining FMA International?

FMA International Members will also receive:

  • The option to apply for a free student membership in the Association of Financial Professionals (AFP)

What about Dues?

Students interested in International Membership must pay $45 for a one year membership (or $70 for a two year membership). This is in addition to the $25 semester fee for the local NIU Chapter.

Where Do I Sign-up?

What about FMA National Honor Society (NHS)?

To be eligible for the FMA National Honor Society, students must have a minimum 3.25 overall GPA (or a 3.25 GPA in finance and related course work) AND must have successfully completed a minimum of six (6) hours of finance. If a student is eligible, the NIU Department of Finance will pay for a one year NHS membership. To join, please print the FMA International Application, select the One Year National Honor Society Membership, and submit the application to an FMA Board Member or to the Department of Finance, BH 236.
