"No one has ever become poor by giving" ~ Anne Frank
Current student scholars, together with alumni of the Breitzke Scholarship, enjoyed lunch with Eileen Breitzke and Marilyn Nymeyer on April 25 in Barsema Hall. The scholars wanted to express their appreciation for the scholarship support they received to help them with their education at NIU.
Bill Breitzke graduated from NIU in 1964 with a B.S. in Marketing and M.S. in Education in 1969. He taught business for many years at Maine West High School. He felt strongly that NIU prepared him for his successful career and wanted to ensure future students could obtain their NIU degree with the help of scholarship support he established. He felt so strongly about this, that one of his last acts was to arrange for the establishment of the Brietzke Endowed Scholarship.
The attendance of so many of the scholars at the luncheon reinforced for Eileen Breitzke, wife of alumnus Bill Breitzke (deceased), and his sister, Marilyn, that their money was designated for a meaningful purpose and has made a difference in the life of past, current and future students.
