The college's efforts to provide opportunity for its students to experience the global business arena began 25 years ago. Since that time, the college has continued to reach out across the world to provide students with exposure to the new realities of an increasingly complex global business environment. These efforts range from increasing the internationalization of the NIU business faculty and student bodies, to building expanded academic seminars and long-term relationships with academic institutions in other countries. Along the way, the college has been named by the Chinese government as China's Preferred Educational Partner; the college has forged a newly-formed faculty exchange program with Slobomir P University in Serbia; and, the college stands to participate in a global academic collaboration between highly regarded universities, with the intention of using education to institute transformational change in countries that are moving away from a central control of businesses to a free-market approach.
