Over the years, the college has seen an increase in the number of NIU business faculty whose country of origin is outside of the United States. Previously, NIU business faculty enjoyed members from Spain and Egypt. Currently, the NIU business faculty roster includes educators who were born in Korea, China, Sweden, Spain, India, Poland, and Turkey. Many of these faculty - as well as the college's U.S.-born faculty - place their teaching efforts and research focus on the global business environment. This year, Marketing professor Mark Rosenbaum was selected to be a Fulbright Scholar in Cambodia where, in summer 2009, he will teach Principles of Marketing & Services Marketing at Cambodia's National University of Management. The Fulbright Scholar Program is a highly prestigious program and is the U.S. Government's flagship program in the international education arena. Additionally, many NIU business faculty are sought out by firms and by the media for their expertise on global business practices. As an example, Department of Marketing chair Tanuja Singh was asked for her views on the global economy in the story "Making it in the Global Arena" (Rockford Register Star, November 12, 2007). Singh is also in leadership positions with two high-profile international conferences: the 2008 Korean Academy of Marketing Science Conference (March 2008 in Shanghai), serving as chair of the International Marketing Track, and; the 2009 Academy of Marketing Science World Marketing Conference (July 22-25, 2008 in Oslo), serving as co-chair of the Electronic and Interactive Marketing track.
