Introduction to the European Business Environment in Bordeaux, France

Academic Credit: For satisfactory participation in the program, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NIU College of Business for three or six hours of credit. Course performance will be evaluated by the NIU faculty in the same manner in which on campus courses are evaluated. The course taken while participating in this program cannot be audited.

Program Objectives:

This program is designed to give students an understanding of the European Business Environment. Lectures will center around European Union (EU) issues dealing with the ever changing framework of the EU, its external trade relations, the features and specifications of European firms, and business negotiations within the EU's complex cultural context. Students will take part in a seminar on wine economics by participating in field trips to meet with tradesmen, producers and merchants in the wine industry, studying Bordeaux's regional issue of managing vineyards and wine activities. Language of instruction is English. Classes will be conducted at the facilities of the University of Bordeaux, School of Management.
