During the November 2006 gala fundraiser, the college's NIU Executive Club raised $95,000 in one night in support of undergraduate business scholarships. A four-year scholarship, the NIU Executive Club Scholarship is awarded to outstanding NIU business students who apply for, and meet, the criteria. Along with receiving a specific dollar amount, scholarship recipients benefit from internship opportunities during their junior and senior years and from mentoring relationships with successful business professionals. NIU Executive Club members – all Northern alumni and established business professionals in the Chicago-area – provide the scholarship monies, internships, and mentorships
The NIU Executive Club is one of three college membership-based alumni clubs, with the Rockford Alumni Club and Young Professionals Network being the other membership-based clubs. All three alumni organizations provide student scholarships. And all three clubs capture the extensive breadth and depth of their members' professional experience in Illinois' vibrant business community, one of the most dynamic in the country.
