Approximately 100 college and departmental scholarships are awarded to undergraduate business majors.

OM&IS Major Justin Kuryliw Awarded 2.14 Scholarship

Justin Kuryliw Five NIU students were named as the first recipients of the university's new Forward, Together Forward scholarship, which was given out during the university's 2.14 day-long memorial service. All five NIU students were selected for their "strong character and values, grand ambitions, and intellectual curiosity." One of the five to be honored with the $4,000 scholarship includes OM&IS major Justin Kuryliw. Among his many university activities, including serving on the Dean's Student Advisory Council, Kuryliw is co-creator of Huskies United. Huskies United is a university-wide student organization that Justin and friends formed immediately in the aftermath of 2.14. Huskies United dedicates itself to performing community outreach in memory of the five students who lost their lives in the 2.14.08 tragedy. Kuryliw's commitment to honoring their memory and his depth of character are revealed in his reaction to receiving the scholarship. "It's an amazing honor to be seen as carrying on someone's memory, and I can't think of anything better," Kuryliw said. Finance Major Joseph Petitti Awarded Scholarship to Study Abroad

Joseph Petitti Joseph Petitti, a NIU finance major in his senior year, earned the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, which provides funds for qualified students to study abroad. Petitti will use the scholarship to study in China in Fall 2008. More



NIU Executive Club Raises $64,000 for Student Scholarships

During the November 2007 gala fundraiser, the college's NIU Executive Club raised $64,000 in one night in support of undergraduate business scholarships. A four-year scholarship, the NIU Executive Club Scholarship is awarded to outstanding NIU business students who apply for, and meet, the criteria. Along with receiving a specific dollar amount, scholarship recipients benefit from internship opportunities during their junior and senior years and from mentoring relationships with successful business professionals. NIU Executive Club members – all Northern alumni and established business professionals in the Chicago-area – provide the scholarship monies, internships, and mentorships

The NIU Executive Club is one of three college membership-based alumni clubs, with the Rockford Alumni Club and Young Professionals Network being the other membership-based clubs. All three alumni organizations provide student scholarships. And all three clubs capture the extensive breadth and depth of their members' professional experience in Illinois' vibrant business community, one of the most dynamic in the country.
