Admission Process

To apply for admission to the Graduate School, submit the following:

1. Completed Graduate School Application form and $40 application fee. (Note: Deadlines to submit an application with the $40 fee are listed below, or refer to the application itself for full details.)
2. A statement of career goals outlining your objectives for applying to the Graduate School.
3. Graduate School Letter of Recommendation forms (minimum of two). These should be from individuals who can attest to your recent work achievements.
4. The Graduate School requires that you submit your associate, baccalaureate, and any higher degree transcripts. A transcript fee is usually charged by each school. (As a service to NIU alumni, your transcripts are forwarded to the Graduate School free of charge.)

College of Business Supplement to the Application:

Include a current skills-oriented résumé that includes present job title and (where applicable):

• Any increasing responsibility you have had in your job(s)
• Any cost center or budget for which you are responsible.
• The number and types of employees whom you supervise.

Summary of Materials to be Submitted

• Graduate School Application, including the statement of career goals and the application fee.
• Two Letters of Recommendation
• Official Transcript(s) (Use your browser to print a blank generic request form)
• Goals Statement
• Up-to-date Skills-Oriented Résumé
• Graduate Assistantship Application (where appropriate)
• GMAT Preadmission Report
• TOEFL score (for applicants whose native language is not English)

At the discretion of the respective program directors, candidates may be required to come in for an interview or to submit additional materials deemed important in assessing potential for success in graduate business studies.
