Selection of Participants

Each year, more than 1,500 graduate students apply to Northern Illinois University. The graduate students are an important part of the academic community at NIU. They pursue degrees and conduct research in every department of the university. All students enjoy the benefits of working with the high-caliber faculty and facilities at NIU.

Applicants are selected primarily on the basis of their work record. A minimum of three years' successful professional experience is preferred. A baccalaureate degree in any area with a grade point average of at least 2.75 (on a 4.00 scale) and a score of 450 or higher on the GMAT are recommended.

Participants are carefully selected to include a balanced mixture of participants with comparable managerial and professional responsibilities but different backgrounds and organizational affiliations. No specific undergraduate degree, course prerequisites, or training is required for admission.

Candidates are encouraged to apply as early as possible. The selection of Fast-Trak M.B.A. candidates for the class starting the end of August will begin in early spring.

Sponsorship is preferred.

Students are regular graduate students. Participants in the Fast-Trak M.B.A. Program are admitted to the Graduate School and accordingly are considered regular graduate students and subject to the general policies of the Graduate School regarding grading standards and graduation. All students are required to maintain at least a 3.00 (B) grade point average.
