The one-year Professional M.B.A. is designed for working professionals who have acquired a management understanding through an undergraduate business degree or equivalent of related courses. The following courses or equivalents must be completed (grade of C or better at the undergraduate level, grade of B or better at the graduate level) prior to enrolling in the Professional M.B.A.:
For candidates with a non-business undergraduate degree and those with a business degree who have not successfully completed all of the courses listed above, these prerequisites must be satisfied prior to starting the Professional M.B.A. Eligible candidates for admission may enroll in these program prerequisite courses prior to starting the Professional M.B.A. when offered by the NIU Evening M.B.A. program. These prerequisites may also be satisfied with a passing score on a course-specific exemption examination.
In addition to reviewing transcripts during the admission process, the M.B.A. office will evaluate transcripts prior to submission of the application, checking for the prerequisite courses or their equivalents. Transcripts may be faxed to (815) 753-1668 for this evaluation.
Since the Professional M.B.A. is designed for students with a substantial business academic background, students are expected to draw quickly from their previous course work. Given the accelerated pace of the program, applicants should examine their background and skills objectively to determine if refresher work is necessary prior to starting the program.
