Efren Favela (Evening MBA)

Current Position: National Director - Espanol Sales DIRECTV
  Current Industry: Satellite/Broadcast
  Undergraduate Major: Marketing
  Undergraduate University: Northern Illinois University

Why did you choose the Evening MBA format?

I chose the NIU Evening MBA program for several reasons. As a working professional, I love the flexibility of the schedule that allows me to continue to be successful at the workplace while enhancing my value to my employer by taking relevant courses with real life applications. I was also attracted to the great value that an NIU MBA offers. Other programs were nearly double and in some cases triple the cost. The ability to get a quality MBA at an affordable price was appealing.

What have you found to be the most rewarding part of the MBA program thus far?

I have found learning from other professionals during class discussions and projects to be very rewarding. Hearing from other successful professionals on challenges and successes they encounter in the workplace is beneficial and in many cases I can apply those lessons learned by others to my current situations.

What are your current interests and hobbies?

I enjoy spending time with my family. With work and school, I appreciate my family time more than ever. I also enjoy being physically active. I usually am in training for a race or triathlon. I have recently completed a marathon and a 70.3 Ironman Triathlon and I enjoy the physical and mental challenges of endurance sports.

What blogs, magazines or newspapers do you read to stay up-to-date?

I read several industry blogs to make sure I keep myself informed with what is happening as it relates to my business. On a personal side, I enjoy reading fitness magazines such as Triathlete and Runners World.
