MBA Student Spotlight
Melissa Gonzalez (Evening MBA)
Current Position: Director of Global Services
Why did you choose the Evening MBA format?
The evening MBA program was a perfect match for my professional and personal needs. Working full time and taking evening classes was a challenge, but I cannot imagine a better way to take full advantage of the program. I was attracted to the classroom experience (rather than online), the demographic of professionals and students enrolled as well as the accreditation of the program.
What have you found to be the most rewarding part of the MBA program thus far?
I have been given the opportunity to take advantage of the curriculum an MBA program has to offer without having to put my career on hold; this allowed me to advance in my career as I was working on my MBA. Having the opportunity to be in the classroom with other working professionals made the exchange of knowledge much more impactful, relevant and easily applicable.
What are your current interests and hobbies?
I love to take time out to enjoy the Chicago community theatre scene, spend time on the lakefront, walk and bike around the city, dance as much as I can and spend lots of time with my 8 nieces and nephews.
What blogs, magazines or newspapers do you read to stay up-to-date?
All Things D, Businessweek, The Chicago Tribune, Aljazeera and The Wall Street Journal.
