The NIU Department of Management held its 2008 Senior Dinner and Awards Banquet in April to recognize the achievements of graduating seniors, student organizations, faculty and award its 2008 Distinguished Alumni Awards.
David Hooten and Lawrence Stuenkel were awarded the 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award. Currently, Chairman and CEO of Claymore Securities, David Hooten was recognized for his professional achieves in the financial services industry and his service to the department as a frequent speaker in NIU's entrepreneurship classes. He graduated from NIU with his B.S. in Management in 1985.
Lawrence Stuenkel was awarded the 2008 Management Distinguished Alumni Award in recognition of his professional achievements in the area of human resource management and his service to the department. Mr. Stuenkel formed the partnership of Lawrence & Allen to provide consulting services in human resource development and management to a wide spectrum of organizations. He authored the book entitled From Here To There: A Self-Paced Program for Transition in Employment. Mr. Stuenkel earned his B.S. in Management 1965 and his M.S. in Management in 1967.

At the banquet, Professor Luis Flores was recognized as the department's nominee for the Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award. Roman Nowacki was recognized as the department's nominee for the Excellence in Undergraduate Instruction Award. Professor Curtis Behrens was recognized for his nearly 30 years of service to the university.
