Thank you for your interest in the Management Department at Northern Illinois University. The Management Department is comprised of 31 faculty and staff members dedicated to transforming our students' professional futures and contributing to the business and academic communities.
We draw on faculty expertise in leadership, human resource management, entrepreneurship, law, communications, strategic management, and organizational behavior and their professional experiences in business to advance the education of our students and develop business knowledge to benefit of our alumni and other partners. We are committed to providing high quality educational experiences both within and outside the classroom to develop our graduates as valued business professionals.
NIU's Management Department supports an undergraduate program in Management, with emphases in Organizational Management and Human Resource Management. Department faculty members also teach in graduate programs in the Executive M.B.A., Professional M.B.A., and evening M.B.A. programs and in the CIA and CPA Reviews offered through the Department of Accountancy. Last year, department faculty and instructors taught 5,270 students in 157 class sections in our undergraduate and graduate programs. One hundred and twenty-five students graduated with a B.S. in Management. Department faculty also held positions in international professional organizations committed to developing management knowledge and education and engaged in consulting and training in businesses.
Creating opportunities for our students to learn outside the classroom is an important objective for the Management Department. The Department of Management has excellent relationships with alumni and employers of our graduates. They provide opportunities not only for employment for graduates but also internships for students and faculty, scholarships for students, and consulting and research for faculty. We are proud of the accomplishments of our alumni and grateful to them for their support, especially Dennis Barsema, a 1977 management graduate who donated over $20M to build Barsema Hall.
Whether you are a current or prospective student or one of our proud alumni, I hope you'll spend some time exploring our Web site to learn about the many resources and opportunities in NIU's Management Department.
