The Department of Management at Northern Illinois University awarded two Distinguished Alumni Awards. David Hooten, Chairman and CEO of Claymore Securities, was awarded the 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award at the Management Department Senior Dinner and awards Banquet on April 30th. He founded Claymore Securities in 2001. Prior to founding Claymore Securities, he previously served as Managing Director of Structured Investments for Nuveen Investments. Mr. Hooten is a frequent speaker in NIU's entrepreneurship classes. He graduated with his B.S. in Management in 1985.
Lawrence Stuenkel was awarded the 2008 Management Distinguished Alumni Award in recognition of his professional achievements in the area of human resource management. He has held both line and staff positions at Continental Can Company. While with Federal Signal Corporation, he progressed from Division Manager of Personnel to Corporate Manager of Labor Relations. In this capacity, he served as Chief Spokesman for over 60 contract negotiations, many arbitration cases, union elections and Affirmative Action cases.
Mr. Stuenkel formed the partnership of Lawrence & Allen to provide consulting services in human resource development and management to a wide spectrum of organizations. He authored the book entitled From Here To There: A Self-Paced Program for Transition in Employment.
Mr. Stuenkel has been a guest speaker in multiple classes and generously shares his varied experiences and accomplishments. Mr. Stuenkel received his B.S. in Management 1965 and his M.S. in Management in 1967.
