Any student admitted to NIU can declare a major in management; however, to continue as a management major and enroll in 300- or 400-level management courses required by the major, the following criteria must be met.
All business majors must complete 100- and 200-level required business core courses which include the following:
Complete ECON 260, ECON 261, MATH 211 or MATH 229, PSYC 102, and ENGL 104 or ENGL 105 or equivalent courses; and
Complete one of the following courses: ANTH 120, GEOG 202, GEOG 204, HIST 171, ILAS 235, PHIL 170, PHIL 231, POLS 260, or SOCI 170 or equivalent courses; and
Complete ACCY 206, ACCY 207, MGMT 217, and UBUS 223 with a C or better grade in each course.
All business majors must have a 2.75 cumulative GPA to enroll in UBUS 310.
All business majors must complete UBUS 310 with a C or better grade.
All management majors must submit a completed Department of Management Transcript Review form to the Department of Management during the semester in which they are enrolled in UBUS 310 before enrolling in MGMT 335 or MGMT 355. This form is separate from the NIU Admission form and is available in the Department of Management Office or at www.cob.niu.edu/mgmt. Completed forms must be submitted by the deadline to:

Students are responsible to provide all transcript information to the Office of Registration and Records.
All management majors must meet the cumulative GPA requirement set by the Department of Management to enroll in MGMT 335 or MGMT 355. With a cumulative GPA of 2.85 or higher, students who complete the transcript review process and meet pre-requisites will be able to enroll in MGMT 335 and MGMT 355. If space permits, students with a minimum 2.75 GPA will be considered.
Meeting the department requirements to be retained as a management major does not declare your major. You must declare your major in the Undergraduate Studies in Business Office in Barsema Hall 201.
