Scholarship Opportunities

The Management Department sponsors a number of scholarships and awards to support students in meeting their educational goals. The scholarships range in value from $500 to $5,000. Scholarships are available to continuing students who will be enrolled at NIU as full-time students during the 2013-2014 school year.

The scholarships available, the selection criteria, and the application process for scholarships for the 2013-14 academic year are listed below. Please note that students who submit a Standard Application will be automatically considered for all scholarships requiring the Standard Application. If the scholarship requires more than the Standard Appliciation, please submit that information separately.

Allstate Scholarships

These awards are for students with the class standing of Junior or Senior in the academic area of management with a GPA greater than 3.0. Other criteria include: academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, work experience, honors and awards, and communication skills. Application Procedure: Submit Standard Application

Gladys M. Bahr Memorial Fund Scholarships

This award is for undergraduate students pursuing the Business Administration major. Other criteria include academic achievement, leadership, and university and community service. Application Procedure: Submit Standard Application

Dennis & Stacey Barsema Endowed Scholarships in Social Entrepreneurship

These scholarships are awarded to full-time junior or senior undergraduate students in the College of Business with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who are pursuing the Certificate of Undergraduate Study in Social Entrepreneurship. Other selection criteria include accomplishments, goals, and service to community. Application should include:

  • Resume which addresses selection criteria;
  • Degree Progress Report;
  • Two-page essay explaining your interest in Social Entrepreneurship

Deb Brucker Scholarship

This award is for students with the class standing of Junior or Senior in the academic area of management who are studying human resource management. Other criteria include: academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, work experience, honors and awards, and communication skills. Application Procedure: Submit Standard Application

Ferro Scholarship for the Society for Advancement of Management

This award is for students with a class standing of Junior or Senior in the College of Business. Other selection criteria include participation and contributions to the Society for Advancement of Management, academic achievement, extracurricular activities, honors and awards, and communication skills. Application Procedures: Submit Standard Application

Irving Business and Entrepreneurship Award

This award is for students with the class standing of junior or senior and in good academic standing who plan to pursue a career in business and entrepreneurship. Other criteria include: pursuing a Minor in Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship, financial need, and career plans. Application should include:

  • Resume which addresses selection criteria;
  • Degree Progress Report;
  • Essay explaining career goals

Kevin Casebolt Scholarship

This award is for students with the class standing of Junior or Senior in the academic area of management. Other criteria include: career goals, service to department, college, university and community, extra-curricular activities, and academic performance. Application Procedure: Submit Standard Application

Management Alumni Scholarships

This scholarship is available for students with the class standing of Junior or Senior in the academic area of management. Criteria include academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, and leadership potential. Application Procedure: Submit Standard Application

Management Department Achievement Awards

These awards are in variable amounts for students with the class standing of Junior or Senior in the academic area of management. Other criteria include: academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, work experience, honors and awards, and communication skills. Application Procedure: Submit Standard Application

Mike O'Connor Scholarship

These awards are for students with the class standing of Junior or Senior in the academic area of management. Other criteria include: academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, work experience, honors and awards, and communication skills. Application Procedure: Submit Standard Application

Bob Rothkopf Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior undergraduate student majoring in Management. Other selection criteria include accomplishments, extracurricular activities, academic achievement, career goals, and communication skills. Application Procedure: Submit Standard Application

True Value Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to a junior or senior undergraduate student majoring in Business Administration with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Other criteria include community involvement and leadership skills. Application Procedure: Submit Standard Application

Michael C. & Lori S. Wallach Scholarship

This award is for students with the class standing of Junior or Senior in the academic area of management or business administration. Other criteria include: career goals, service to department, college, university and community, extra-curricular activities, and academic performance. Application Procedure: Submit Standard Application

Peter and Luann Walton Scholarships

These awards are for students with the class standing of Junior or Senior in the academic area of management. Other criteria include: academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, work experience, honors and awards, and communication skills. Application Procedure: Submit Standard Application
