Department Statement of Guiding Principles
As part of the College of Business, the Department of Marketing prepares students for successful careers through a curriculum that is current, ethically sound, socially and culturally aware, globally focused, rich in experiential learning, and responsive to the needs of the business community. The Department engages in research that makes significant contributions to the marketing discipline and the business community. The Department provides meaningful service to the students, the alumni, the university; and regional, national and international business, professional and not-for-profit organizations.
Department Objectives
To provide students with educational experiences and opportunities inside and outside the classroom that are relevant for today's globally interconnected business environment.
To provide a curriculum which enhances student learning by helping students develop skills that involve critical thinking and problem solving , written and oral communication, global business knowledge, technical expertise, and effective team functioning while addressing core marketing concepts and principles.
To engage the business community in the learning experience for students and faculty by creating mutually beneficial alliances between students, faculty, alumni, business and professional organizations.
To provide faculty members with opportunities to engage in research that is current, relevant, and facilitates knowledge creation in the Marketing discipline.
To provide opportunities for faculty and student development which facilitate life-long learning.
To provide opportunities for faculty and students so that they can contribute their knowledge and expertise to the College, the University, relevant professional organizations and the business world.
