Two NIU Business faculty named MVP and favorite professors (October 2014)
NIU Assistant Professor of Finance Adam Yore and NIU OM&IS instructor Shail Godambe were both named "Most Valuable Professor" (MVP) by the NIU Men's Soccer Team. Yore and Godambe are the first professors to earn the soccer team's Most Valuable Professor designation in their newly-created campaign to celebrate outstanding NIU faculty. The campaign rolls out during NIU's game on October 8th against Northwestern. Yore and Godambe will be recognized during halftime, along with NIU Business student-athlete Dusty Page who won in a separate award category.
Accountancy Professor lands leadership role in the American Accounting Association (May 2014) Natalie Churyk was elected Vice President-Academic for the Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum section of the American Accounting Association. Per Association practices, Churyk will then become President of the TLC section in two years. Colleagues from various universities across the country nominated and elected Churyk. An Associate Professor at NIU, Churyk is also the Caterpillar Professor of Accountancy in NIU's Department of Accountancy.
NIU Marketing Professor earns two Fulbright Awards (February and March 2014) Marketing professor Mark Rosenbaum received two Fulbright awards from the United States Department of State. In February 2014, Rosenbaum was named a Fulbright Specialist because of his expertise in services marketing; the Fulbright Specialist Program promotes linkages between U.S. scholars and professionals and their counterparts at host institutions overseas. In March 2014, Rosenbaum was named a Fulbright Senior Scholar for Nepal during the 2014-15 academic year; in this role, Rosenbaum will advance the mission of the Fulbright program in Nepal, which promotes mutual understanding through the exchange of students, lecturers, and research scholars. Among his other accomplishments, Rosenbaum is also the Kohl's Corporation Professor of Retail Marketing in the Department of Marketing.
OM&IS Professor Receives Global Research Fellowship (March 2014) Professor Kathleen L. McFadden received a global research fellowship award to present research findings and mentor operations management faculty in the processes and pedagogies involved in conducting academic research. McFadden will continue to work closely with faculty members to produce significant research outcomes over the next year.
NIU Accountancy Chair wins Professional Service Award (February 2014) NIU Accountancy Chair and Crowe Harwath Professor of Accounting Jim Young won an award at the national meeting of the Accounting Program Leadership Group (APLG)/Federation of Schools of Accounting (FSA). Young received the APLG service award for leading the organization as its president and for leading APLG through its strategic planning process.
