November 27, 2012, NIU Naperville - A panel discussion with: NIU Business alumnus Nick Calamos, President of Investments and co-Chief Investment Officer of Calamos Investments; NIU Board of Trustees Professor of Finance Gerry Jensen; Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Officer Rick Mattoon. The panelists will discuss and debate the economic outlook for 2013. This event is open to undergraduate and graduate level NIU College of Business students, alumni, and businesses. Enron Whistleblower Sherron Watkins to Address NIU College of Business Students

October 8, 2012, Barsema Hall Atrium- Former Vice President of Enron Sherron Watkins will speak with students on the topic of Ethics as part of the college's BELIEF Initative. Ms. Watkins alerted then-CEO of Enron Ken Lay in August 2001 of accounting irregularities within the company. She has testified before Congressional Committees from the U.S. House and Senate investigating Enron's demise. In recognition of her outstanding demonstration of ethics in the work place, Ms. Watkins has received numerous honors. TIME magazine named Sherron, among others, as their 2002 Persons of the Year, for being "people who did right just by doing their jobs rightly." The BELIEF Initative at the NIU College of Business is in its 6th year and has been ranked in Businessweek's top 3 for ethical programs for 3 consecutive years.

Cynthia Crocker and the Crocker Program for Emerging Business Leaders

October 4, 2012, Drake Hotel, Chicago -- Marketing alumnus and retired executive Cynthia Crocker established the Crocker Program for Emerging Business Leaders in the NIU College of Business. The program helps female students learn how to develop a professional network and how to realize their career aspirations. On October 4th, Ms. Crocker will serve as the keynote speaker for a professional event that she is also hosting at the Drake Hotel, Chicago. Fifty NIU business undergraduate students, as well as female alumni -- all of whom are accomplished executives and volunteer mentors to the students -- will be in attendance.

Rallying Your Resilience with Jim Davidson

World-class mountain climber and author Jim Davidson spoke to Department of Accountancy students on the topic of resilience and the significance of moving beyond obstacles in the business world. Entitled "Rally Your Resilience," Davidson's talk focused on powerful lessons he learned from a harrowing mountain climbing incident that he overcame. Davidson shared valuable insights on developing the mind set and the courage to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Jim Davidson's speaking engagement was held on October 3, 2012 in Barsema Auditorium. Mr. Davidson's visit was sponsored by the Department of Accountancy in the NIU College of Business.

Interdisciplinary Healthcare Workshop
