The Department of Operations Management and Information Systems emphasizes a market-oriented philosophy which focuses on the current and future needs of business. This philosophy has resulted in very successful programs, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, whose graduates are highly demanded by business. A major component of the department used to ensure the validity of OM&IS programs and other activities is the OM&IS Executive Advisory Council (EAC).
The OM&IS EAC is a group of successful business executives, from the areas of operations management, information systems, and logistics, who are familiar with the department and its programs and who routinely hire OM&IS graduates. The purpose of the OM&IS EAC is to provide counsel to the department and lend direction and support to its programs and initiatives. This advisory group gathers twice a year on campus to meet with departmental administrators, faculty, students, and staff to offer advice and guidance to ensure that departmental activities stay attuned to the needs of business.
