Along with classroom instruction, the college offers many opportunities for business students to learn directly from both business faculty and business executives by collaborating with them. One of the programs that provides this type of opportunity is the Experiential Learning Center (ELC). The ELC connects faculty-guided teams of NIU students with organizations to tackle existing business issues in an actual firm. More than 350 NIU students have participated in the ELC by working on projects for 38 sponsoring organizations. The projects range from software evaluation, emerging market analysis, to an environmental footprint study, among many others. The learning and networking you'll gain from the ELC program is impressive. In fact, last year's student work on the Environmental Footprint project for McDonald's was honored as being one of the most outstanding at the university overall.
