Below is a list of minimum university/college requirements necessary to graduate. Please refer to the Undergraduate Catalog and meet with your advisor should you have any questions.
120 semester hours
40 hours of 300/400 level courses
NIU cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above
NIU major GPA of 2.0 or above (All 300- and 400-level courses taken in a student's major whether elective or required, courses taken outside the department, and courses outside the College of Business that are required by the student's major).
Core Competency Requirements
English--a C or better required in ENGL 103 and 104 or 105
Oral Communication--COMS 100
Mathematics--MATH 101; OR a C or better required in MATH 155, 201, 206, 210, 211 or 229; OR a C or better in STAT 208, STAT 301, STAT 350, ISYE 335, or UBUS 223; AND a C or better in MATH 110 or an ACT math score of 24, or a SAT math score of 560 or an A- or B-level placement on the NIU math placement test.
General Education Requirements - NO PASS/FAIL ALLOWED
Humanities and the Arts - 9 to 12 semester hours in humanities and
arts area with at least one course taken in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and at
least one course taken in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, with no more than 6
semester hours taken in any one department.
Sciences and Mathematics - 7 to 11 semester hours in the sciences and mathematics area in courses taken in at least two but no more than three departments.
Social Sciences - 6 to 9 semester hours in the social sciences area with no more than 6 semester hours taken in any one department.
Interdisciplinary Studies - 3 to 6 semester hours in the interdisciplinary studies are.
Distributive Studies - a total of 29 general education hours from the above four areas is required (and cannot include more than three courses in any one department).
60 hours outside the College of Business and Economics (Up to nine hours of economics and six hours of statistics will count as non-business)
Satisfy all major requirements. Note that a C or better is required in all major department courses and all business core courses effective with the 2008-09 catalog.
