Mission Statement

The Academic Advisors of the College of Business assist students in the development and implementation of an educational plan to achieve their academic and career goals. As part of the educational process, the professional Advisors are committed to their students' success through:


  1. Developing educational programs consistent with students' interests and abilities.
  2. Interpreting and communicating curricular requirements, policies, and procedures.
  3. Encouraging participation in value-added experiences that prepare students for the business world.
  4. Marketing the College and Departmental programs.
  5. Providing appropriate referrals to other campus offices and resources.
  6. Promoting ethical conduct.

To accomplish this goal, we have developed the following objectives:

  1. To meet individually with students to discuss his/her interests in pursuing a particular major and career path.
  2. To develop an educational plan with students based on his/her interests, abilities and career goals that will fulfill graduation requirements.
  3. To provide guidance to students in resolving his/her academic concerns.
  4. To inform students of current university, college and department academic policies and procedures.
  5. To develop and maintain methods of effective communication with majors.
  6. To recruit and promote the College programs internally and externally.
  7. To convey knowledge of University resources that will enhance students' academic experience.
  8. To instill ethical conduct through example and as advocates of University policies.

NOTE: Each advisor has additional responsibilities as pertinent to their role in their particular department.
