The College of Business is full of bright and well educated students who are eager to obtain a professional position that will utilize the education and skills they have learned while at NIU. The employers who seek to hire these students use the interview process to judge students' professionalism, which includes an analysis of how the student looks and acts during the interview. While NIU students are well-trained burgeoning professionals, some lack the economic resources to dress professionally. These students should not be overlooked simply because they lack the economic means to dress appropriately.
The NIU College of Business would like to announce the creation of the Dress for Success Fund, designed to assist students with the purchase of professional attire for interviews or professional meetings. Students who qualify for assistance from the fund are those who are enrolled in the college; demonstrate a financial need; and who demonstrate a need for professional attire (such as being in the process of interviewing for permanent or internship positions). Faculty members will accompany qualified students to purchase clothing and shoes to ensure that students are appropriately professionally attired.
Students who need assistance are urged to contact their respective departments to determine if they qualify or contact professors Brad Cripe or Dave Sinason in the Department of Accountancy.
We are currently seeking donations to the fund from alumni and friends of the College of Business. If you are interested in donating to the fund, please contact David Sinason (dsinason@niu.edu) or Brad Cripe (bcripe@niu.edu) for more information.
