Mrs. Phelan joined the faculty at NIU in 2002. She is an Instructor for both Managerial Accounting 207 and 307 and serves as the Internship Coordinator for the Accountancy Department. Mrs. Phelan is one of the instructors for the CMA Review course which NIU offers and she has led several teams in the Experiential Learning Center. Prior to coming to NIU, she was a partner in the Management Consulting Practice at Ernst & Young. During her 11 years there, her responsibilities included new account development, sales, service delivery and staff development. Her teaching experience includes training both E&Y staffers and client teams regarding Cost Management, Activity--Based Costing, Performance Measurement, Data Warehousing Principles and Accounting Information Systems. Her professional experience also incorporates roles as Cost Analyst, Payroll Manager, and Compensation Manager. Mrs. Phelan is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and is certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APIC). Mrs. Phelan has a B.S. in Business Administration from Valparaiso University and a Master's in Management (MM) from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
