A Sweep of the "Big 3" Accounting Education Innovation Awards

In 2009, three NIU College of Business accountancy professors achieved a feat in accounting education not previously accomplished. Individually, the three professors won one of three highly coveted accounting education innovation awards. Because the three professors all come from the NIU College of Business, their combined achievements translate into a sweep of the three most prestigious accounting education innovation awards:

  1. The American Accounting Association Innovation in Accounting Education Award;
  2. The Federation of Schools of Accountancy Innovation in Graduate Education Award;
  3. The Bea Sanders/AICPA Innovation in Teaching Award.

It's unprecedented for faculty from the same institution to win the three most prized awards in accounting education. Our proud congratulations to:

  • Pam Smith, KPMG Endowed Professor of Accountancy, winner of the American Accounting Association Innovation in Accounting Education Award
  • Rebecca Shortridge, Gaylen and Joanne Larson Professor of Accountancy and Associate Professor , winner of the Federation of Schools of Accountancy Innovation in Graduate Education Award
  • Linda Matuszewski, Assistant Accountancy Professor, winner of the Bea Sanders/AICPA Innovation in Teaching Award
