| Elizabeth Abraham - Management Instructor
|
Elizabeth Abraham teaches MGMT 355, Human Resource Management, and MGMT 436, Compensation and Benefits Administration. She has been teaching for seven years; five of those years were spent teaching at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.
Elizabeth is married to Paul. They have two sons--Yohan, aged 17 and Stefan, aged 16. Most of Elizabeth's spare time is devoted to her family, but she enjoys reading, quilting, and sewing whenever she has a few moments to herself. She also plays the handbells at church.

| Clare Andres - MBA Programs Staff Secretary
|
Clare Andres came to the College of Business from Lowden Hall, where she had been Staff Secretary to the Assistant Vice President of Financial Affairs, Director of Treasury Operations, and Comptroller. She had held secretarial positions previously in the School of Nursing to the undergraduate and graduate advisors and for the Rural Adult Nurse Practitioner Grant Project.
One word describes Clare's experience in the workplace: Variety. She has taught English, speech, and drama at the university and junior college levels and fourth grade at a Catholic elementary school. She has been a secretary at a Chamber of Commerce and an executive secretary at an international manufacturer of beauty and barber equipment. Clare has also worked as an assistant editor for a wine magazine and had her own gourmet cookie and candy business. Presently, she edits and proofreads academic documents such as dissertations, articles for publication, and accreditation reports.
Clare is a voracious reader with a special interest in the Middle Ages and Egyptian archaeology.

| Robert Beatty - Assistant Professor of Operations Management & Information Systems
|
Robert Beatty is teaching OMIS 640, Management of Information Systems Technology. Prior to accepting a position at NIU, Bob served on the faculty at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, Miami University, and Texas Christian University. His research interests include information systems strategy, technology assessment and adoption, and information systems security.
Prior to pursuing a career in academics, Bob held a number of professional positions. These include serving as a War Planning Project Leader/Systems Analyst for the United States Air Force, serving as a Project Manager for Offshore Gas Operations for Amerada Hess Oil, and was handpicked by the Information Services Management Team at Kellogg Cereals to revitalize their worldwide interorganizational systems business function.
Bob lives in Sycamore with his wife, son, and daughter.

| Scott Beyer - Assistant Professor of Finance
|
Scott Beyer currently teaches Finance 340, Investments. Before coming to NIU, Scott taught 2 years at University of Wisconsin--Parkside and was Assistant in Operations Engineering at TEK Corporation in Wisconsin. He likes golf, tennis, travel, chess, and 19th century art.

| Connie Fuller - Management Instructor
|
Connie Fuller is teaching MGMT 444, Training and Development. Previous teaching experience includes Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Regis University in Denver, Colorado, Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri and Crystal Lake, Illinois, and Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. Courses she has taught in the past included topics in management and human resources development.
Currently, Connie is Manager of Human Resources for AG Communication Systems in Genoa, Illinois. She has over 20 years of experience in organization development and human resource management.
Connie co-authored Bridging the Boomer-Xer Gap: Creating Authentic Teams for High Performance at Work with Hank Karp and Danilo Sirias.

| Norman Goldstein - Finance Instructor
|
Norman Goldstein teaches two sections of FINA 430, Treasury & Credit Management--a course he taught previously at NIU during the 1999/2000 school year. Other teaching experiences include conducting seminars for the Center for Professional Education, teaching for the American Management Association, and lecturing at many professional conferences around the country.
Norman is CEO at Gold International, Inc. Prior to his current position, he was Vice President & Treasurer for Barton Incorporated.
Among Norman's many affiliations are Board Member of the NIU Executive Club, Board Member of Treasury Management Association of Chicago (TMAC), and Co-Chair of Windy City Summit Annual Treasury Management Conference, where each year a number of NIU students are invited to attend. Three Goldstein family members belong to the ranks of NIU alumni. Both Norman and his son, Russ, have received Finance degrees, while Norman's wife, Bonnie, graduated with a degree in Special Education.

| Jennifer Kaminski - Management Instructor
|
Jennifer Kaminski teaches MGMT 438, Human Resource Planning and Staffing, and MGMT 444, Training and Development. For the past three years before coming to NIU, she had been teaching both undergraduate and graduate Human Resources courses.
Outside the world of academia, Jennifer has held a variety of Human Resource positions across a variety of areas: planning and development, diversity management, and compensation. Her background is in Research Methodology, which gave her the opportunity to work on benchmarking and other measurement projects. Working in these "new" Human Resource areas keeps her in the forefront of the field.
Jennifer and her husband are currently renovating their new home. "This has become my new hobby," Jennifer explains, "learning all about flooring and other materials that I would normally not deal with." Otherwise, her main interest is with nature and enjoying the outdoors--whether it is going on a caving trip, camping, or hiking down a trail. "There's nothing like being outside and active on a nice day!" Jennifer exclaims with the signature broad smile upon her face.

| Angela Listy - Accountancy Department Secretary
|
Angela Listy started with the Accountancy Department in January 2003. Before coming to NIU, she worked as an Inside Sales Rep for Standard Register in DeKalb and in the Label and Marketing Departments at Duplex Products in Sycamore. Angie is a big fan of the group Alabama and loves John Wayne movies. Her hobbies are traveling, reading, and genealogy research.

| Donna Mack - Senior Gift and Estate Planner
|
Prior to coming to NIU, Donna has had twelve years of experience in fundraising: two years running a small family foundation and 10 years as a planned giving specialist. The latter incorporated one year as a major gifts specialist. The responsibilities of her current position are to raise funds for NIU in general and for the College in Business in particular. When asked what is the best part about her job, Donna doesn't hesitate to say, "Spending time with intelligent, interesting donors and staff and faculty at the College of Business."
Donna is a professed "Law and Order" addict. This is due, in part, to the fact that as a child she wanted to be an attorney. Donna's interests outside the office are running, gardening and reading.

| Carolyn Miller - Management Instructor
|
Carolyn teaches Management 346, Business Communications. Previous teaching experience includes being a tenured instructor at Kishwaukee College and teaching at NIU during her graduate program in the English Department.
Carolyn's experience beyond teaching has been both varied and interesting. While living in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, she was an archivist/secretary for General Dwight D. Eisenhower during the last 3 years of his life. She then became Mrs. Eisenhower's secretary for one year. For ten years before returning to NIU in 1989 to finish a bachelor's degree, Carolyn worked as a sales director for a cosmetics company. At NIU, she has worked as a secretary in the Marketing Department, an Equal Opportunity Officer in the Office of Affirmative Action, and a secretary in the College of Education.
Carolyn loves to read and work outside in the yard during the summer. Being a grandma to two little granddaughters is currently her greatest interest.

| Sandra Mortal - Assistant Professor of Finance
|
Sandra Mortal is currently teaching FINA 330, Corporate Finance. Prior to coming to NIU, she taught Survey of Investments while working on her Ph.D. at the University of Georgia in Athens. Her areas of interest are Market Microstructure and Corporate Finance. Sandra is originally from Portugal, where she lived up until finishing her undergraduate degree. She loves traveling and has a passion for classical music, food, and port.

| Joan Petros - UBUS Team Leader
|
Joan Petros received an M.B.A. degree from Northwestern University and a B.S. degree in Accountancy from Northern Illinois University. She is currently teaching UBUS 311, Applications Seminar, an interdisciplinary core course for all business majors, and MGMT 468, Strategic Management. Before joining the staff at NIU, Joan accumulated 16 years of experience working in industry.

| Catherine Traynor - Accountancy Instructor
|
Catherine Traynor had joined the faculty at NIU in 1997 and is returning after being on leave for three years. Catherine currently teaches Financial Accounting Information for Business Decisions, Fundamentals of Accounting, and Introductory Cost Management. In the past, Catherine has been the coordinator for Introductory Cost Accounting and has also taught Business Decisions and Issues, Introductory Financial Accounting, and Managerial Accounting Information For Decisions and Control. She has received a curriculum grant and a corporate grant while teaching at NIU in the past. Catherine is thrilled to return to NIU and be a part of the highly regarded Accountancy Department again.
Catherine's professional career includes experience in corporate accounting. She has a B.S. in Accounting from Purdue University and a Master's in Accountancy with Specialization In Taxation from Northern Illinois University. Catherine currently owns a consulting practice which specializes in accounting information technology.
Catherine has been married for fourteen years and has two beautiful daughters, ages 6 and 10. She cherishes spending time with her daughters and is involved in various aspects of their lives. She is currently on the Executive Board of the PTA, a Core Catechist for Fourth Grade Religious Education, a room parent, and also a team parent.

| Debra Zahay - Marketing Professor
|
Debra Zahay, Acxiom Corporation Professor of Interactive Marketing, is currently teaching Internet Marketing. As part of the Interactive Marketing area of study, she will also teach database marketing and direct marketing. Her research interests are in the area using customer information to facilitate relationships, direct and database marketing and data warehousing. Before coming to NIU, Debra was an Assistant Professor of Marketing and Electronic Commerce at North Carolina State University, Executive-in-Residence and Adjunct Instructor at DePaul University in Chicago.
Prior business experience includes Director for the Center for Business Management at the Illinois Chamber, General Manager at a division of InterCall, Director of Sales and Marketing at MCI Telecommunications, and various sales and marketing management positions with data vendor Dun & Bradstreet. She is a longtime member of both the American Marketing Association and the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing.
Debra is a big opera fan and has had Lyric opera tickets for the past 13 years. She is also a mezzo soprano and sings in church and oratario societies. Debra loves to bicycle. In a typical season, she bikes 60 to 100 miles per week. Not least of all, Debra is an avid baseball, basketball, and football fan. Her ultimate challenge will be to track the progress of her two alma maters, Northwestern and University of Illinois, as well as the NIU Huskies.
