| Emily Blickem - Academic Counselor
|
Emily Blickem is a 1999 graduate of Northern Illinois University with a B.A. in Psychology. She feels fortunate to be able to turn her knowledge of NIU into a career helping current students prepare for their future.
As a student, Emily was a Residential Advisor in University Plaza. This position helped her to become more aware of the services and support that NIU offers its students. Inevitably, that experience led to her first official position with NIU as an Assistant Director in the Office of Admissions.
Locally born and raised, Emily has been an active member of the DeKalb/Sycamore community all her life. Her passion for softball kept her busy for the first 15 years; now she spends a lot of time reading, watching football (Go Bears!), and listening to music.

| Mark Quinn - Finance Instructor
|
Mark Quinn teaches FINA 115, Personal Finance, a course that teaches managing a budget, judicious use of credit, purchasing and financing a home, managing personal investments, etc. He is also in his third semester at Columbia College, where he teaches, or has taught, Accounting and Financial Management at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Mark's non-teaching career has consisted of junk bond analysis, junk bond portfolio management, general fixed income management, futures and options trading, and personal and institutional financial consulting. Currently, he is Chief Investment Officer at Amalgamated Bank of Chicago.
Mark very much likes teaching; he is happy that he began a teaching career relatively late in life and looks forward to teaching full-time some day. He also likes to write, to speak in front of groups, and spend time with his wife and three kids. He is also an avid car nut and would rather talk cars above all other topics. In the world of music, Mark enjoys both classical and big band music and is a huge Aaron Copeland and Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin/Sammy Davis, Jr. fan. Mark thinks The Godfather (either 1 or 2; they are interchangeable) was the greatest film ever made, with Dr. Strangelove as a close second.
