NEW COB FACULTY AND STAFF MEMBERS FALL 2006
| Richard Boulger - Management Professor
|
Rich has joined the NIU faculty in the Management Department where he will teach MGMT 346 (Business Communications) and MGMT 443H (Honors Seminar in Entrepreneurship and Innovation).
He is retired after 25 years at Accenture where he served as a partner in the energy and utilities consulting practice. Rich's focus was on the design and implementation of financial planning and reporting processes and tools including large scale ERP implementations. Rich held the position of global functional industry director for the financial and performance management practice in his industry group.
After his retirement and prior to joining NIU, Rich held the position of Director of Professional Development for the Eller MBA program at the University of Arizona. He was responsible for the design of all experiential learning and professional development activities for MBA students. He assisted in the teaching of business communications and taught leadership and team development as well as a course in consulting project execution.
Rich holds a B.S. degree from the University of California at Davis and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
Rich lives in Clarendon Hills, a western suburb of Chicago with his wife, Mary and their three children T.J. (13), Erin (12) and Stephanie (10).

| Carrie Bryn - Marketing Instructor
|
Carrie has an M.B.A. from DePaul University in Business Administration. She received her B.S. in Marketing (with a minor in Art History) from Northern Illinois University.
Carrie will be teaching Graduate Survey of Marketing (Marketing 505) this fall.

| Kathi Buffington - Staff Secretary
|
Kathi has an AAS in Industrial Management and is currently attending classes at Northern Illinois University. Kathi is a staff secretary for Undergraduate Studies. She started her career in Undergraduate Studies here at Northern Illinois University in 1990. In 1993 she left to go to the Engineering Department (also at NIU). In the 10 years in which she remained in Engineering, she was promoted from a Secretary III, to a IV, then Staff Secretary and finally to an Administrative Secretary. She has now returned to us in Undergraduate Studies.
Kathi resides in DeKalb with her son, Jake. Kathi enjoys riding her horse, spending time with family, and attending her son's sporting events.

| Amy Buhrow - Outreach Specialist
|
Amy works for the newly renamed Alumni and Corporate Relations department (formerly Business Outreach) at the College of Business. Amy received her B.S. in Agriculture Education at Illinois State University and her M.S. in Education at Northern Illinois University. She works with the College of Business Experiential Learning Center and promotes the NIU Rockford B.S. in business administration program in the Rockford area.
Prior to joining NIU, Amy led the training department for the AFS Services division of CASE IH and worked as a public relations account executive at Rhea & Kaiser Marketing Communications. At Rhea & Kaiser, she worked on the Caterpillar Agricultural Products and Merial accounts.
Amy lives in Ashton with her husband Allyn and two children. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, helping out on the family farm and reading.

| Elliot Cook - Technology Resources IT Support Associate
|
Elliot Cook is returning to Northern Illinois University as the Technology Resources IT Support Associate in the College of Business. His last affiliation with Northern was as a student during which time he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with an Applied Emphasis. After receiving his degree, Elliot taught four computer classes both Aurora Christian High School and Aurora Christian Middle School. He was also the Network Administrator for both schools.
Originally from Round Lake Beach on the northside of Chicago, Elliot now resides in, as he describes it, "the great town of DeKalb". In his free time he enjoys programming computers, working on his car, spending time with his friends, and seeing his family which consists of his parents, four sisters, and one brother.

| Brad Cripe - Accountancy Instructor
|
Brad Cripe has a bachelor's degree from New Mexico State University in Economics (1995), another bachelor's degree from New Mexico State in Criminal Justice (1995), and a master's degree from New Mexico State in Accounting (1998). His Ph.D. was earned at the University of Nebraska in 2006, and is also in accounting. Brad is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Brad was employed by KPMG as a senior tax specialist for about 2 years before going to Nebraska for his Ph.D. He did work for US citizens living and working in Mexico.
Brad will be teaching ACCY 450 in the fall and ACCY 650 in the spring.
Brad grew up in southern New Mexico and west Texas, but managed to avoid picking up the Texas accent! That's where he picked up his love for great Mexican food!
Brad and his wife, Rochelle live in Genoa with their two cats: Lily and Ted. All of them love to watch reality TV, take walks and ride bicycles, play Monopoly (Rochelle would tell you that she is a great player, but Brad says he can beat her!). Brad and his wife love outdoor concerts, are diehard U2 fans, but most of all they love to spend time together. They've been married for over a
year now.

| Joe Cullinane - Executive in Residence
|
Joe Cullinane holds a Master of Science in Communication degree from Northwestern University, a Master of Business Administration degree from Dominican University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Northern Illinois University. Joe is also the publisher of the book 21st Century Selling. In the past Joe was a "Trump" for the NIU Marketing Apprentice class (see www.cob.niu.edu/apprentice/trumps.asp).
In 2005 Joe was awarded an Outstanding Alumni Award from the College of Business here at Northern Illinois University. Joe will be teaching Marketing 367 - Principles of Global Marketing.
Joe lives in Geneva, Illinois with his wife Marianne and son Charlie. His hobbies include hiking and reading.

| Linda Dunn-Jensen - Management Visiting Assistant Professor
|
Linda received her B.S. in Computer Science from Marquette University, her M.S. in Human Resources from Loyola University in Chicago, and her Ph.D. in Management from the Stern School of Business, New York University in May 2006.
Linda will be teaching Management 355 - Organizational Behavior and Management 635 - Organizational Behavior for the Management Department.

| Ieva Engel - Secretary III
|
Ieva works for the Marketing Department at the College of Business as part of the Professional Sales Program. Her name is of Latvian origin and is pronounced "Yeava." Ieva has a B.S. in Political Science from Lulea University of Technology in Sweden.
Ieva is fluent in four languages which are Latvian (which is her native language), Russian, Swedish, and English.

| John Hansen - Marketing Professor
|
John Hansen received his B.S. and M.B.A. from Troy University and his Ph.D. from the University of Alabama. He will be teaching Principles of Selling (MKTG 350) for the Marketing Department. John previously taught at the University of Alabama and Samford University. He was a marketing instructor at both universities.
John comes to us from Birmingham, Alabama. He now lives in Sycamore, Illinois with his wife Juli, son Samuel (17 months old), daughter Mary Elizabeth (1 month old) and two Jack Russell Terriers named Shelbi and Luci. His hobbies include any sport related activities and he is a big college-football fan. John also enjoys the outdoor activities of biking and jogging.

| Linda Matuszewski - Accountancy Instructor
|
Linda Matuszewski will be joining Northern Illinois University's Accountancy department in August to teach ACCY 320 and ACCY 331 this coming spring. She has received a B.A. in Business Administration from Alma College in Alma, Michigan, and an MBA from the University of Cincinnati. Currently, Linda is finishing up her PhD., also from the University of Cincinnati.
Before coming to NIU, Linda was a CPA in public accounting as an auditor and tax consultant for Ernst & Young. She was also the Chief Financial Officer for a non-profit organization. Linda has previously lived in both Michgan, where she grew up, and Ohio. She currently resides in DeKalb with her husband, Mark, and their two cats. In their spare time they enjoy camping, hiking, backpacking, and traveling.

| Ted Moorman - Finance Instructor
|
Ted Moorman will be teaching Corporate Finance (FINA 330) at Northern Illinois University beginning in August. He received a B.A. from Wheaton College and his PhD from Texas A&M University before working as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of New Hampshire.
Though Ted currently resides in DeKalb, he used to call Brenham, Texas, home which is located between Houston and Austin. In Ted's free time he enjoys fishing, hunting, snowboarding, and playing guitar. Ted's wife, Sara, gave birth to their first child, a daughter in July of this year.

| Gina Nicolosi - Finance Instructor
|
Gina comes to Northern Illinois University from teaching Corporate Finance at the University of Cincinnati, where she received her PhD. in Finance this year. In the fall, she will be teaching Financial Markets and Institutions (FINA 350) in Barsema Hall. Outside of her PhD., Gina also holds an MBA from Wright University (2001) and a B.A. in Foreign Languages from the University of Dayton in 1999.
Originally from Dayton, Gina now resides in Sycamore with her husband, Bradley; daughter, Kelsea; and, as she says, "too many dogs and cats to count."

| Keith Nyquist - Management Instructor
|
Keith received his B.A. in English from Northern Illinois University and his M.A. in English at Northern Illinois University.
Before coming to the College of Business, Keith taught in Northern Illinois University's Department of English for 6 years. Keith will be teaching Management 346 - Business Communication for the Management Department and test preparation for the GMAT and GRE.
Keith and his wife Pattie live in DeKalb and have been married for almost seven years. They are both big opera fans and are looking forward to the upcoming season at the Lyric Opera in Chicago.

| Phyllis Pleckham - Finance Department Secretary
|
Phyllis Pleckham may be new to the College of Business, but she has been with Northern Illinois University for over seventeen years. She is joining our staff as the Finance Department Secretary. Previous positions at NIU include one year in the College of Education, twelve years in the History department, and four and a half years in the Provost Office.
Phyllis lives in Sycamore with her husband Neal and two children, Lindsey, an NIU graduate, and Phillip, a high school freshman. In her free time she enjoys travelling and playing with the family's pet poodle, Carter.

| Andy Rasmussen - IT Technical Associate
|
Andy is a Northern Illinois University graduate. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems and his Master of Science degree in Management Information Systems at NIU. While pursuing his Master of Science degree, Andy worked as a graduate assistant (GA) in the Marketing department. As a GA, he maintained Web pages and developed database applications. Andy lives in Kirkland, IL and he enjoys playing sports and working with computers.

| Kyra Rider - Program Administrative Assistant
|
Kyra is currently a Program Administrative Assistant for the M.B.A. Programs. She has a B.S. in Mathematics from Northern Illinois University and a M.S.Ed. in Instructional Technology also from NIU. After growing up in DeKalb, Kyra spent some time in the suburbs working as a corporate trainer. She returned to the DeKalb area to pursue a high school teaching career at Sycamore High School. Not finding the right fit at SHS, Kyra headed back to her alma matter. She is excited about team teaching a section of UNIV 201 with Angela Bross this Fall. Kyra currently resides in Sycamore with her two cats and enjoys scrapbooking and reading when she has some free time.

| Bobby Riggle - Marketing Professor
|
Originally from Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Bobby Riggle has lived in Gainesville and Tampa, Florida, but now calls Sycamore home. Beginning in August, he will be teaching Marketing Management for the MBA program and Marketing Research in the Undergraduate program.
Previously, Bobby taught at Henderson State University and the University of South Florida. He received his own degrees from these same schools (a B.A. in Public Administration and an MBA from Henderson State University, as well as his PhD from the University of South Florida).
Bobby enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing as well as spending time with his wife, Edith, who is expecting their first child in late August and their cat, Daisy.

| Mark Rosenbaum - Marketing Assistant Professor
|
Mark Rosenbaum will be teaching both UBUS 310 (Marketing) and courses for the Executive MBA Program. In the past years Mark has been an Assistant Professor at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, and an Instructor at the following universities: Arizona State University, San Diego State University, and California State University. He also has extensive corporate experience in the fine jewelry industry (Andin International) and the retail industry (Saks Fifth Avenue).
Orginally from Morton Grove, Illinois, Mark earned a B.S. in Finance from Indiana University and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago before venturing out to earn an M.A. in International Business from New York University, an M.S. in Operations Management from San Diego State University, and his Ph.D. in Marketing from Arizona State University. He has lived all over the United States but most recently resided in Honolulu, Hawaii. He currently lives in Naperville with his partner, Brian Morrow, and his 10-year-old West Highland White Terrier, Elliot. Mark explains that Elliot has never lived anywhere with weather cooler than 50 degrees and that he "is in for a surprise."

| Chris Thomas - Management Assistant Professor
|
Chris Thomas will be joining the Department of Management in August to teach Human Resource Management (MGMT 355). He received a B.A. and M.P.A. from North Carolina State University, and recently completed his Ph.D. in Business Administration at the University of Georgia. His research interests include career development topics like mentoring and personal learning activities, as well as human resource practices that encourage workers to become more engaged with their work.
He currently resides in DeKalb with his wife, Maureen, and their two dogs, Haley and Lakota. Having lived most recently in Atlanta, Maureen is happy to return to the Midwest where she was raised. A lifetime resident of the Southeast, Chris is a bit reluctant to face his first northern Illinois winter, but is excited that Lakota, a 10 year-old Siberian Husky, will finally get to experience a real winter and snow.
Chris and Maureen are avid college football fans, and are looking forward to tailgating and cheering on the Huskies during the upcoming football season. They both enjoy cooking, outdoor activities, and taking advantage of all the great activities Chicago has to offer. Chris admits that, when time allows, his guilty pleasure is playing NCAA Football ’07 on PS2.
