Bing holds a B.A. in Economics, with a major in international trade and a minor in industrial management, from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China and an M.A.S. in Accounting from Northern Illinois University. She is currently an intern at Crowe Chizek and Company LLC and will move into a full-time position beginning in January 2004.
As an international student, Bing feels that outstanding CPA scores are helpful in attracting recruiters and in succeeding in the job market. She is looking forward to the challenge of a public accounting career.
When asked what tips she would give to someone preparing for the CPA exam, Bing carefully lays out some very practical advice. “The NIU CPA Review is definitely the key reason I passed the exam with outstanding scores. The review courses made it much easier for planning a study strategy. I just followed the instructions from each professor and practiced as many problems as I could from the Wiley book. As for FARE and ARE sections,” continues Bing, “I recommend that candidates not get too upset about the low correction rate. Those problems are difficult for everyone. It is important to read through AND truly understand the solution. Also,” she adds, “I think the last month is very important in preparing for the exam. It is the time to consolidate all the related topics learned piece by piece during the four-month review.”
Bing will be getting married in December. Her fiancé, Peng Liu, is currently a Ph.D. student at North Carolina State Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute. He is also an NIU alumnus with a Master's degree in Statistics.
