The application deadline has been extended to August 15, 2019. You must submit the graduate application form and supporting documents by this day. Classes begin in September 2019.
Scholarships up to $1500 are available to eligible candidates.
Academic ability, quality of work experience and professional business success are all important factors considered for admission. A minimum of three to five years of successful business experience is preferred, as well as a baccalaureate degree with a grade point average of at least 2.75 (on a 4.00 scale).
Candidates with a nonbusiness undergraduate degree must satisfy prerequisites before starting the Chicago MBA.
The following courses or equivalents must be completed (with a grade of C or better at the undergraduate level or a grade of B or better at the graduate level) prior to enrolling in the Chicago MBA:
- Business Statistics (OMIS 524)
- Business Information Systems (OMIS 507)
- Financial Accounting (ACCY 505)
- Survey of Business Economics - Macro and Micro (FINA 500)
- Principles of Operations Management (OMIS 505)
- Principles of Management (MGMT 505)
- Graduate Survey of Marketing (MKTG 505)
- Fundamentals of Financial Management (FINA 505)
- Business Law Essentials (MGMT 511)
In addition to reviewing transcripts during the admission process, the MBA office will evaluate your transcripts prior to submission of the application, checking for the prerequisite courses or their equivalents. Documents may be faxed to 815-753-1668 or emailed to mba@niu.edu.
Prerequisites for One-Year MBA
For candidates with a nonbusiness undergraduate degree and those with a business degree who have not successfully completed all of the admission requirements, we offer interactive, self-paced online courses for $750 per course.

- Complete the online Graduate School application and pay the $60 application fee.
- Complete the supplemental information form as early as possible and mail it to the MBA office.
- Complete a statement of purpose.
- Two letters of recommendation submitted through the Graduate School application.
- Request an official college transcript from the college or university from which you graduated.
- Get a sponsorship agreement form signed by your supervisor, manager, an HR representative or company official.
- Please note: After submitting your application, you'll be notified to schedule a personal interview.
Course Fees
The total cost of the Chicago MBA for the class beginning in September 2018 is $39,000. This price includes all course materials and the international trip.

The academically challenging curriculum, a common core of all AACSB-accredited MBA programs, includes managerial accounting, financial hand operations analysis, organizational behavior, management of information systems technology, strategic policy and marketing management.
