Internships and Careers

Internship and career preparation are embedded in the NIU Business experience.

  • The Career Compass program helps you discover more about yourself, set academic and professional goals, and make a plan to reach those goals.
  • UBUS 110: Business in Action immerses you in a live consulting project your first year at NIU. You gain resume-worthy experience, exposure to real-world application across business disciplines, and early validation of your choice of majors.
  • The Business Passport activities broaden your business perspective, enhance your marketability and help you define your personal brand.
  • Departmental Careers Courses help you explore career opportunities in your major, prepare you with job search strategies and skills, and hone the professional skills that will set you apart.
  • NIU Career Services supports your career growth by offering an abundance of professional development resources, workshops, the Huskies Get Hired online job board, and employer connections.
  • NIU Career Services and College of Business departments host Career Fairs, Meet the Firm Events, and Talent Nights to connect you to potential internship and full-time opportunities. Watch the Upcoming Events below for details.

Our academic programs blend hands-on problem-solving, functional and foundational business knowledge, leadership and professional skills, and ethical awareness. In and out of the classroom, our diverse students are prepared with the knowledge and experience to hit the ground running as interns and full-time hires in your organization.
